MCC club to host summit for supporting undocumented students Feb. 24

The McHenry County College Latinos Unidos Club, Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Student Peace Action Network will host a Supporting Undocumented Students Summit from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, in Room A240 of the Bersted Lecture Hall at the college, 8900 Route 14 in Crystal Lake.

The public is invited to learn about resources available for undocumented students, how to create supportive spaces, and foster resilience. This summit is ideal for students, faculty, staff and other supportive professionals.

Presenters will include Sandy Lopez, assistant to the director for the Center for Latino and Latin American Studies from Northern Illinois University, and Shirley Sadjadi, principal attorney and founder of the Law Offices of Shirley Sadjadi.

Both women will share resources on how to support undocumented students.

Attendees also will have an opportunity to visit with representatives from Mano a Mano Family Resource Center and the Hispanic American Community Education and Services.
