College of DuPage football players sign with Division I and II Schools

Eleven College of DuPage Chaparral football players have signed on with Division I and II schools as part of National Signing Day.

Chaparrals continuing their academic and athletic careers are Edmond McGhee, Murray State; Malik Johnson, Houston Baptist; Evander Craft, University of Toledo; Shannon Hall, Ball State University; Adam Valiga, Eastern Kentucky University; Kaelub Newman, Indiana State; Paul Engram, Illinois State; Nick Wadsworth, Idaho State; Joel Blankenship, Southern Illinois; Eddie Scott, Lake Erie College; and Darrin McDaniel, Lake Erie College.

Additionally, McGhee, Johnson, Craft, Valiga, Blankenship and Scott are among 32 players named to the COD Football program's Champions Club, which recognizes students achieving a GPA of 3.0 or better.

The Chaparrals were 7-3 this season and play under Head Coach Matt Foster. The team closed out its 2017-2018 season with a 35-0 win over Minnesota's Mesabi Range Community College Norsemen in the 2017 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Red Grange Bowl.

College of DuPage is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association, National Junior College Athletic Association Region IV and North Central Community College Conference (N4C). The College's Athletics program offers nine men's and eight women's sports teams each year, including outdoor track and field, indoor track and field, cross country, football, volleyball, golf, basketball, tennis, baseball, softball and soccer. All home games are played on the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd., and are free and open to the public.
