Aurora Harry Potter Fest ticket sales open March 24

Kate Purl, director of Aurora's second annual Harry Potter Festival, announced that ticket sales will open at 9 a.m. March 24 on Eventbrite.

Purl keynoted the Aurora Noon Lions Club's semimonthly luncheon meeting at Luigi's Pizza in Aurora.

She said the festival, June 8-10, will return to Wall Street Mall in downtown Aurora. According to Purl, the event has been expanded from a single day to three after the initial event quickly sold out. About 5,000 people attended. Ticket prices will be announced.

Purl said the festival is partnering with Aurora Downtown, a nonprofit organization of business and property owners.

Proceeds from the festival will benefit six local nonprofit organizations to be announced.

The festival is also being expanded to include both morning and evening events, which Purl said will allow for a full weekend of experiences.

Festival highlights will include a Magic Market, food vendors, Quidditch Pitch game, Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, entertainment and Diagon Alley. In addition to a walking path, trolley cars will shuttle visitors.

Volunteers are sought for a new Adopt-An-Area program.
