St. Charles Kiwanis Club awards monthly grants

At the Jan. 23 club meeting, the St. Charles Kiwanis Club members and recipients gathered for grant distribution.

The club awards monthly grants to local organizations that help area children and families. Fox Valley Food for Health and the St. Charles Park District Teen Center each received $750, and Royal Family Kids' Camp received $800.

Attendees included Mary Fremgen, co-founder and education/garden director for Fox Valley Food for Health, an organization adult and teen volunteers supporting people in need who are dealing with a serious illness by providing nutrient rich meals, nutrition education and personal caring support; Jim Buckalew and Jordan McDonell with the Royal Family Kids' Camp, a network of camps, children's clubs, and child mentoring for abused, abandoned and neglected children in the foster care system; and Darby Beasley, teen program and center director, and Dan Procaccio, teen recreation supervisor, of St. Charles Park District's STC Underground, offering teens a place to hang out and socialize.
