Examine the relationship between food, medication with U of I Extension

Any medication - whether over the counter or prescription - can lead to an interaction with foods you eat. Learn more about this complex relationship during a free seminar hosted in St. Charles and Yorkville on Wednesday, Feb. 7.

"Food and Drug Interactions" is a University of Illinois Extension educational program that will walk through the food groups and discuss how some foods affect certain medications, such as enhancing or decreasing their effect.

This lesson also will increase awareness of how fortified foods and supplements can modify a prescription or medication's efficacy. Finally, the group will examine myths surrounding food-drug interactions.

This free seminar is provided in cooperation with the Association for Home and Community Education and will be led by Extension Educators via webinar from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, at two local Extension offices. It will be hosted in Kane County at 535 S. Randall Road, St. Charles, and in Kendall County at 7775B Illinois Route 47, Yorkville.

Space may be limited, and registration is required by 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5.

To register for the session in Kane County, call (630) 584-6166; in Kendall County, call (630) 553-5823; or email uie-dkk@illinois.edu with the topic and location, your name, address and phone number.
