Partners for Our Communities Hosts Annual ICompete Fundraiser at Durty Nellies on Saturday

On Saturday, Jan. 27, Partners for Our Communities will host an ICompete Fundraiser at Durty Nellie's, 180 N. Smith St., in Palatine from 6:30-8:30pm. Money raised at the event will go to support IComplete, a program designed to break down barriers of access to stimulate interest, provide academic support, and increase opportunities for underserved children to participate in organized sports, clubs, and other community programs.

"It's really exciting to watch students grow up with IComplete," said Falcon Park Family and Youth Program Specialist Rachel Lara. "I work with students who begin at the elementary level and stay involved throughout their high-school years. To watch former participants come back and serve as volunteers and leaders in their community is a constant reminder of why this work matters."

ICompete is a Partners for Our Communities program with the collaboration of Palatine Park District, Township High School District 211, Community Consolidated School District 15, Palatine Police Department and Palatine Township. In 2016, ICompete offered 13 year-round programs, three community wide events, and affected the lives of over 1,200 youth and 75 local high school mentors and volunteers. Throughout the years, Palatine High School and Fremd High School students have supported ICompete through volunteering and this event is an opportunity for alumni over 21 years of age to continue their support and find out what their hard work has helped build.

The Mardi Gras themed event will feature raffles and live music entertainment by Bucket Number 6, a Chicago area band performing the best rock and pop covers from the past five decades. For music samples, visit the group's website at bucketnumber6.com. Tickets are available at the door for $20 per person. Attendees wearing a Mardi Gras mask will received two free raffle tickets. Cash bar and menu will be available.
