Woodland Middle School Students Compete Jan. 24 for Geography Title

Geography questions like these will be fielded from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24 when 19 Woodland Middle School students participate in the 2018 National Geographic Bee. All three grades will be participating in the event held at the school's Learning Resource Center, 7000 Washington St., in Gurnee. The winner will represent Woodland in the online state contest.
Last year Woodland Middle School winner Kenith Taukolo, then a sixth-grade student, competed at the state level and scored a perfect 8 of 8 in the preliminary round before placing 17th overall.
The winner of the state competition will advance to the 30th National Geographic Bee to be held May 20-23 in Washington D.C. where he or she will be eligible to win a $50,000 college scholarship.
