Elgin Vineyard to host bake sale benefit for Colombia mission trip

Vineyard Church of Elgin will host a bake sale fundraiser this Sunday, Jan. 14, to help offset the cost of a mission trip next month to Medellin, Colombia.

This will be the second time Elgin Vineyard visits the South American nation to share the love of Christ.

The bake sale is timely, not only to fund the upcoming travel, but also because the church is just coming off its annual New Year's Week of Prayer and Fasting, Jan. 6-12.

Along with cookies, brownies and other desserts, the mission team will spice up the display with many dozens of tamales for sale.

Anyone can stop by to make a purchase; the sale will be 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the church, 220 Division St., Elgin.

On Sunday, Jan. 14, the Rev. Tom Severson concludes his series in the Letters of John focusing on the apostle's final letter and on the love of Christ, which changes who we are, how we live, and where we belong.

The sermon title is "Being the Beloved." Services are 9 and 11 a.m., with coffee offered at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.
