Downers Grove Choral Society to present 'A Dvorak Celebration' Feb. 11

The Downers Grove Choral Society, under the direction of artistic director John Patrick Rakes, continues its exciting 59th season on Sunday, Feb. 11.

"A Dvorak Celebration" will feature 19th-century Czech composer Antonin Dvorak works Mass in D, "Songs of Nature" plus Psalm 149 in its native Czech language.

There will be a pre-concert discussion at 3:15 p.m., followed by the 4 p.m. concert.

The Downers Grove Choral Society, anchored in Downers Grove, draws its members from around the Chicago area. Its membership extends well beyond Downers Grove, including such communities as Western Springs, Elgin, Woodridge, Lemont, Wheaton, Frankfort, Naperville, Carol Stream, Lombard, Bolingbrook, Villa Park and Willowbrook, to name just a few.

All 2017-18 season concerts will be presented at Downers Grove First United Methodist Church, 1032 Maple Ave. in Downers Grove.
