Buffalo Grove dancers raise funds at McDance Night

Buffalo Grove School of Dance from the Buffalo Grove Park District held its inaugural McDance Night at the Wheeling McDonald's on Lake-Cook Road on Dec. 20. A McDance Night raises money for local organizations by having the dance coaches work at McDonald's and then giving a percentage of the night's sales to the organization.

The restaurant was taken over by dance coaches and parent volunteers excited to serve meals to dancers and their families to raise money for Buffalo Grove Studio of Dance. The dancers and families were excited to see their dance coaches behind the counter and throughout the restaurant.

Five dance coaches worked from the Buffalo Grove Studio of Dance, greeting guests, cleaning the lobby, working the front counter, serving drinks and clearing tables.

Buffalo Grove Studio of Dance coaches Aly Stanczak, Sean Murillo, and Gini Griffin even took turns dancing around the restaurant in a pie costume, encouraging patrons to make a donation and receive a hot apple pie.

The coaches brought music and performed several dances with their dancers. There was even a hip-hop dancing apple pie thanks to Coach Sean Murillo.

When the Studio of Dance received a tip in the tip jar, dance coaches encouraged all the coaches and parent volunteers to sing the McDonald's jingle.

The event was organized by Jennifer Anderson.

The Buffalo Grove Studio of Dance raised more than $630 at the event. The studio's dancers will be going to Disney World in June 2018, where they will take workshops with Disney performers and perform on stage at Disney Springs. The funds raised at the McDance Night will help support the cost of the workshops and transportation.
