Streamwood Woman's Club benefits local organizations

The Streamwood Woman's Club has been in existence for more than 50 years. Not only is it a social club, but it is also a nonprofit philanthropic club.

Throughout the year the club holds multiple fundraisers, such as the annual Floral Design Showcase, bake sales at the annual Easter egg hunt, annual Gingerbread House Raffle at Panera's in December, Dining for Dollars and more.

Recently, recipients of the club's monetary donations attended a general meeting as guest speakers to explain to members how the money will be used to benefit their organizations.

Each of the following organizations received a $1,300 donation: DARE program with the Streamwood Police Department; WINGS; Streamwood High School Theatre program; Hanover Township Food Pantry; and the Hanover Township Open Gym Program.

Additionally a $500 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior who is a resident of Streamwood.

If you would like to help the Streamwood Woman's Club in its fundraising efforts, join the Dining for Dollar event Feb. 21 at Pilot Pete's in Schaumburg, 905 Irving Park Road. You are required to bring in a flyer.

To obtain the flyer, call Naomi at (630) 289-0859 or send your request to streamwoodwomansclub@yahoo.com.
