Tenants start moving in to Great Bank property
The first tenants are starting to move into the new buildings on the old Great Bank property along the Randall Road corridor in Algonquin, and more will be coming in the new year.
The property at 226 S. Randall Road fronts the busy corridor and sits in front of Home Depot.
Already, a new MedExpress Urgent Care center is open at the site. The immediate care medical center opened in December on the north end of the former Great Bank property.
The MedExpress Center is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day. The nearly 5,000-square-foot building offers walk-in services for illnesses and injuries, and provides on-site services such as X-rays and more.
A second building sits on the south end of the old Great Bank property at 234 S. Randall Road, adjacent to the MedExpress Center.
It is nearly 10,000 square feet and is expected to hold three to five tenants.
Already, McAlister's Deli, a casual dining restaurant that is relatively new to the Chicagoland area, is slated to move into the building's space furthest to the south.
Early last month, a McAlister's Deli opened in Elgin along the Randall Road corridor at 1120 S. Randall Road. There also is a McAlister's Deli in Geneva at 1492 S. Randall Road, which opened in November 2015.
The deli has a variety of food items, from soups and sandwiches to loaded baked potatoes. It also serves up food originated in various regions in the country, including the southwest, Memphis and New Orleans.
At the restaurant, customers order at the counter and then the food is delivered to them. While it is new to this area, it has been a popular staple at many college campuses in the state, including Illinois State University.
The Algonquin McAlister's is set to open in a few months, said Katie Parkhurst, senior planner with the Village of Algonquin.
Parkhurst said there is interest in the other open sites in the building at 234 S. Randall, however, no occupants have been made public yet.
“The developer has been working with a few other tenants for that building, but they are not ready to share them publicly yet,” she said.
“The village is looking forward to McAlister's opening in a few months,” she added. “The other tenants in the building may include another fast-casual restaurant and a retailer.”
Before the strip centers were built, the property originally was home to the Great Bank in Algonquin. The bank opened in the mid-1990s. Great Bank then closed and was replaced by a Charter One Bank on the same site. When that closed, the building sat vacant for years.
Ben Mason, senior planner with the village of Algonquin, has said the bank sold the property to a developer last year, and construction began early in 2017 on the site that houses the two new buildings.
