See demonstration at watercolor guild meeting

Submitted by Lakes Region Watercolor Guild

Thomas Trausch of Woodstock will be the guest artist at the Lakes Region Watercolor Guild meeting from 9:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, Jan. 11, in the Community Meeting room at the State Bank of the Lakes, 50 Commerce Drive, Grayslake. Nonmembers are welcome for $5.

Trausch's art is driven by the use of light and color to express energy, with the belief that light can impart a spiritual quality that resonates with the viewer. His 37 years as a career artist have been equally divided between watercolor and oils.

Trausch is a Master Signature Member of the Transparent Watercolor Society and has more than 1,400 original paintings in private, corporate and public collections, including the Parker Pen Co., The Elmhurst Fine Arts Museum, the collection of Oprah Winfrey and others.

He illustrated and co-authored "The Opera House Sketch Book" and has been published in Artists Magazine, "Splash 3," "The Best of Watercolor" vol. 1 and vol. 2, "Portrait Inspirations," and, most recently, "The Complete Guide to Creative Painting."

The Lakes Region Watercolor Guild welcomes new members and urges anyone interested in watercolor, whether as a painter or simply an art lover, to attend. The guild sponsors workshops for its members with professional artists from all over the country.

Meetings are held September through May the second Thursday of the month. Membership fees are $25 per individual or $30 per family. For information, visit www.LRWG.org or call David Becker at (847) 546-6031
