IAEA Student Art Show
Forty-five student-artists were selected for the 2017-2018 Illinois Art Education Association Student Art Show.
The art show kicked off Dec. 2 during the annual IAEA conference Dec. 2 at the Q Center in St. Charles. The exhibit will travel up and down the state.
The kindergarten-12th grade student art show demonstrates to the public the breadth of experience young people in Illinois are getting through their art programs.
Each year, members of the Illinois Art Education Association are invited to submit images of artwork created in their classroom. All art submissions are two-dimensional artworks produced through a variety of techniques - painting, drawing, collage, mixed media, weaving, metal work, photography, and technology.
This year, 720 pieces of 2-D art from students in kindergarten through high school, including 37 artworks highlighting the importance of celebrating the exceptional artwork created by special needs students, were submitted by 66 art teachers.
From the artwork submitted, 40 student pieces, plus five pieces from students with special needs students, were chosen. The judges were art teachers representing the elementary, middle school and high school levels, and judged in their respective art areas. The judging process was long and labored due to the tremendous amount of high quality work submitted!
Each of the 45 pieces are professionally mounted and framed. The show opened Dec. 2 at the IAEA Conference with a student artist reception and awards ceremony. Each student will receive their artwork in the professionally cut mat at the end of the show year.
The student show travels to the Illinois School Board Association State Conference, Palatine Public Library, Lisle Public Library, Amita Adventist Hinsdale Medical Center, and school galleries at all grade levels throughout the state through August 2018.
Submissions for the 2018-19 Student Show will open on Monday, Feb. 5, and will close on Monday, April 23.
