Yingling serves as principal for a day at Round Lake Village Elementary

Submitted by the office of state Rep. Sam Yingling

As a part of his ongoing efforts to work with local educators to ensure that every child receives a quality education, state Rep. Sam Yingling, a Democrat from Grayslake, recently shadowed Round Lake Village Elementary School Principal Andrew Wilson.

"I always appreciate the opportunity to visit with the professionals tasked with ensuring our children are receiving a top-notch education that prepares them for high school and beyond," Yingling said. "(The) opportunity to follow Principal Wilson, meet with staff and observe actual classroom instruction truly helps me as a lawmaker develop and support better policies that ensure our schools, their staff and students continue to succeed."

During the visit, Yingling observed multiple classroom instructions and met with various department heads from the physical education, fine arts, music and technology fields. He also joined local first and second graders during their lunch hours. Yingling continues to meet with educators and advocates and he supported a new education funding over haul which brings more than $7 million to schools throughout his district.
