Water Street Studios to open 2018 Resident Artists Show Jan. 12

The Dempsey Family Gallery will display work created by each of the 27 artists who have their studios at Water Street Studios in Batavia.

Current resident artists include: Marcy Rogge, Mark Adams, Lisa Diesnt-Thomas, Kathie Collinson, Derek Plant and Stephen Myers, Jim Jenkins, Marty Murphy, Lisa Hutler, Victoria Belz, Bonnie King, Kerri Ann Branson, Jessica Gordon and Mike O'Connor, Sabrina Martin, Lisa Smith Youngdahl, Mark Russell, Maribeth Coffey-Sears, Pat Cahill, Christopher Cudworth, Dave Martin, Lesley Jackson, Rebecca Allen, Steve Sherrell, Richard DeVeau, Angela Wilson, David Wensel, and Christine Willett

The artists exhibiting at the 2018 Resident Artists Show include painters, sculptors, print makers, ceramicists, glass artists, and jewelry makers.

Danielle Hollis, executive director of Water Street Studios, said, "This is one of my favorite shows of the year. This exhibition is a fantastic representation of the wide variety of talented artists creating artwork in our community right here at Water Street Studios.

The opening reception for the 2018 Resident Artists Show will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12.

In addition to viewing the work, meeting the artists who created it and visiting their studios, there also will be small selection of appetizers by Gaetano's Batavia, a bar featuring beer from Solemn Oath Brewery and wine provided by Bright Angel wines. All proceeds from bar sales go to support arts programming at Water Street Studios.

The exhibit will continue until Feb. 4.

David Hauptschein will be exhibiting a number of his photo-based digital paintings in the Kane County Chronicle Gallery, located on the second floor of Water Street Studios. An opening reception will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12.

The shows in both galleries will be on view during regular public gallery hours: 1 to 9 p.m. Friday; and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the gallery, 160 S. Water Street in Batavia.

Water Street Studios is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit art center in Batavia. Its mission is to make the arts accessible to the Fox Valley region and beyond. Its vision is to be a cultural hub in the Midwest. They offer high-quality programs that include art education classes, workshops, subsidized artist studios, monthly gallery exhibitions, events, and community outreach.
