Salvation Army of Elgin provides support to families in need with toys and food

Lauren Williams believes that we all need a little support now and then. For her, it was five years ago with a small child and no job.

"It was during that Christmas season I realized I wouldn't be able to provide for my child," states Williams tearfully, "so The Salvation Army provided toys and food for my family."

Now Lauren has a job as the team manager with Natalee Dismuke, Realtor, at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Starck Real Estate and she is volunteering at The Salvation Army Elgin Corps.

"Giving back is my way of saying 'thank you' to The Salvation Army for being there for me when I needed that little help in life," states Williams.

Last year, Lauren and Natalee joined The Salvation Army Advisory Board and are actively involved in volunteering on committees in support of the Elgin corps as well as every Friday morning helping with food distribution. They are big promoters through social media of the program and services The Salvation Army Elgin Corps, and this Christmas they were able to engage the Realtors Association of the Fox Valley as supporters of the Angel Tree program.

"We are grateful to Lauren and Natalee for wanting to be involved with The Salvation Army Elgin Corps," states Captain Xavier Montenegro, Corps Officer. "And for promoting the mission and ministry of our organization through their own volunteerism."
