Naperville firefighters sponsor blood drive

The Naperville Fire Department is asking residents to give a very precious gift to someone this holiday season by donating blood at the Everyday Hero Holiday Blood Drive from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, at Safety Town, 1320 Aurora Ave.

Each donation helps save three lives, and as the number of blood donations traditionally drops between Thanksgiving and the New Year, the fire department is doing its part to ensure area hospitals have an adequate supply on hand.

"Donating blood is a relatively simple act that can have a substantial impact," Bureau Chief Tom Moran said. "We encourage everyone who can donate to make an appointment. They could literally be giving the gift of life to someone this holiday season."

All participating donors will receive an Ugly Sweater T-shirt (while supplies last) and a voucher for a free large one topping pizza from Papa John's.

Appointments are recommended and can be made by calling (877) 543-3768 or by visiting www.lifesource.org. Just select "Make an Appointment," log in and search by Group Code 360G. Walk-ins are also welcome.

Participants are required to present an ID to donate blood.
