It's a 'Blue Christmas' at McHenry County Historical Society Museum

About 200 people attended this year's Holiday Open House Dec. 2 at the McHenry County Historical Society Museum.

The historical society hosts a monthlong quilt display and Christmas memorabilia show at the museum, 6422 Main St. in Union.

This year's "Rock Around the Quilted Tree" theme is "Blue Christmas."

Veteran Christmas memorabilia collectors Dave Harms and Lynne Eltrevoog are once again collaborating to deck the halls of the museum and stage in holiday finery for your viewing enjoyment. This year focuses on vintage and often rare aluminum Christmas trees.

Museum admission is $5 or $3 for seniors and students. Admission is free to historical society members.

Shop the museum store for notecards, history books, antiques and other holiday gifts.

The museum will open from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday to Friday, through Jan. 5, except Dec. 22 and 29, and Jan. 1.
