DuPage special recreation agency names new marketing and communications manager

Addison, Ill. - Kristen Chereso has been named marketing and communications manager for Northeast DuPage Special Recreation Association.

Celebrating 40 years, NEDSRA provides sports, recreation, and leisure opportunities to adults and children with disabilities. Working with eight park districts and three villages, NEDSRA serves more than 4,000 individuals each year. In her new role, Chereso will be responsible for marketing and fund development throughout NEDSRA.

"I am excited to be on board. NEDSRA provides outstanding benefits-programs for all ages and abilities. Events, activities, ways to get involved, and so much more," said Chereso. "I look forward to working with my team to bring the best to our special rec participants."

Chereso, an Ohio native residing most of her life in Carpentersville, brings a wide-array of experience in her "toolkit," including special trips coordination with Students Today Leaders Forever and volunteering with the Special Olympics of Illinois.

She also helped create a smartphone app for her agency's ice rink and was key to sourcing sponsorships and advertisements. Chereso is a member of Illinois Park and Recreation Association (www.ilipra.org), National Recreation and Park Association (www.nrpa.org), Wisconsin Park and Recreation Association (www.wpraweb.org), and American Camp Association (www.acacamps.org).

Chereso began her career with Rockford Park District as a summer intern, progressing to the role of operations assistant manager. Most recently, she was the marketing assistant for Belvidere Park District.

She graduated from Illinois State University, earning a B.S. in parks and recreation management. She is pursuing a certificate from Cornell University in marketing strategy.

Chereso enjoys the outdoors year-round, from camping to skiing, and looks forward to her role with NEDSRA.
