Wauconda community comes together to enjoy holiday meal

The Wauconda community came together on Wednesday, Dec. 13, for the monthly "Meals for All" at the American Legion Hall in Wauconda.

The Girl Scouts from Troops 1063, 96, and 1531 sang Christmas carols, and the community enjoyed each other's company.

Wauconda Future Business Leaders of America thanked the board of education for sponsoring the meal and dessert. The atmosphere was festive, and the holiday cheer radiated throughout the room, enhanced by caroling from the Girl Scouts.

"The community was very receptive," Girl Scout Troop Leader Magen Robison said. "They seemed to enjoy the young faces and voices singing familiar songs. We saw many smiles and people singing along in the audience. Before our performance the girls also handed out holiday cards that they handmade at a previous troop meeting to some of the attendees at 'Meals for All.' The girls loved spreading cheer."

Wauconda FBLA's chapter public relations committee leader Karly Pikel commented, "Spirits were high. I loved seeing holiday sweaters and the Girl Scouts sing."

While the Girl Scouts in Robison's troops are not caroling again this season, she added that other troops caroled at both Wauconda Care and Rehabilitation Center and Liberty Arms this holiday season.

Wauconda FBLA wishes everyone happy holidays and looks forward to gathering again in January at the Moose Lodge.
