The Holmstad launches free support group for those diagnosed with memory loss

As part of The Holmstad's ongoing support for families and caregivers affected by memory loss, the faith-based senior living community is launching an additional support group specifically for those diagnosed with the condition.

Letters to Myself is a free support group that will meet at 1:30 p.m. the fourth Monday of the month, beginning Jan. 22, in the Town Center classroom at The Holmstad, 700 W. Fabyan Parkway, Batavia.

Letters to Myself provides those diagnosed with memory loss a safe, private place where they can share their thoughts and discuss challenges with others affected by the disorder. Loved ones or caregivers who provide transportation will be directed to an area with refreshments for waiting.

Rachel Lazich of CovenantCare at Home will facilitate the group. She has a master of science degree from Western Illinois University and a strong background in Alzheimer's and dementia care. CovenantCare at Home works with hospitals, physicians, and residential care facilities to provide Medicare-certified health care, personal care, and hospice services.

Registration is not required. For more information, contact Brenda Lowden, RN, at (630) 879-4034 or BJLowden@covenantretirement.org. Information about The Holmstad may be found at www.TheHolmstad.org.

In addition to Letters to Myself, The Holmstad offers The Holmstad Helping Hearts, a free memory loss support group for caregivers, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. the first Thursday of the month, in the Town Center classroom. Registration is not required to attend the support group, but you must reserve a spot for your loved one requiring care by contacting Brenda Lowden at (630) 879-4034 or BJLowden@covenantretirement.org. The care is provided free of charge.
