Queen of the Rosary Recognizes DARE Students

Fifth grade students at Queen of the Rosary School in Elk Grove Village recently completed the 2017 D.A.R.E. program under the direction of Officer Dave Johnson of the Elk Grove Village Police Department.

Officer Johnson, Crime Prevention Specialist, engaged the students in discussions about drug safety, peer pressure, and making choices. Students learned how to recognize bullying, including cyber bullying and gained an understanding of the words empathy, sympathy, and apathy.

On Tuesday, Nov. 28, parents attended the D.A.R.E. culmination ceremony presented by Officer Johnson. Fr. Fred Pesek, Chief Charles Walsh, Deputy Chief Michael Gaspari, Office Andrew Jensen, Officer Ed Thomas, Youth Sergeant Kristen Julian, Lion Lenore Zump and a Village Trustee Samuel Lissner were in attendance.

Congratulations to D.A.R.E. Student of the Year Amanda P. and runner-up Rylan F. Congratulations to Isabelle M., Gaetana C., Patrick M., and Sophia S., who earned Honorable Mention.
