EYSO's Sterling Brass Quintet to perform Dec. 10

Ring in the holidays with style as the St. Charles Public Library's Sunday Concert Series will host the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra's Sterling Brass Quintet.

The concert will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, in the library's Carnegie Community Room, 1 S. Sixth Ave.

The Sterling Brass Quintet is the premiere brass quintet of the EYSO Chamber Music Institute, where the members are selected by competitive audition.

Since its beginnings as a small string orchestra in 1976, EYSO has grown to a community of nine large ensembles and nearly 30 chamber music ensembles.

Directed by nationally-recognized leaders in music education, EYSO ensembles have performed at the Aberdeen International Youth Festival, the Ravinia Festival, the Illinois State Capitol, and on 98.7 WFMT, Chicago's classical music radio.

The Sterling Brass Quintet is made possible by the generosity of EYSO patron Sterling (Stu) Ainsworth. In 2007, the St. Charles resident became the founding patron of the Sterling Brass Quintet and has been its sole sponsor for each of its seasons.

This event is part of the library's Sunday Concert Series, featuring a wide variety of live musical performances.

This performance is funded through donations to the St. Charles Public Library Foundation. The public is welcome and the concert is free to attend.
