Indian Trails Library to extend hours December 16, 17 for high school students

With the change this year of many high schools moving to before winter break, the Indian Trails Library has seen a dramatic increase in visits by high school students.

"One thing we've noticed," said Sarah Heimsoth, the library's high school librarian, "is that more teens are using the study rooms after school and in the evening, as well as finding places in the library for group study.

To accommodate the need for study time in a space where teens are already comfortable visiting, the library decided to extend hours during the weekend before finals start so students from nearby high schools can continue their exam preparations.

On Saturday, December 16 and Sunday, December 17, the library will remain open from 5-8 p.m. for high school students only. The program room will be set up with tables and chairs, as well as a few laptops. Students are encouraged to bring their own tablets or computers if they have them. Pizza and other snacks will be served during the evening study time.

Only the Lake-Cook Room, vending cafe and restrooms will be accessible during the extended hours. Registration is not required. For more information call 847-459-4100.
