Rep. Jesiel Hosting Diaper and Sock Drive to Support Local Community Organization

ANTIOCH - State Representative Sheri Jesiel (R-Winthrop Harbor) is partnering with local community organization Open Arms Mission in hosting a holiday diaper and sock drive. Donations will be collected at Jesiel's district office in Antioch from Friday, December 1st through Wednesday, December 20th.

Thanks to the generosity of so many, the need for items like coats and food is being met, but the need for infant care products such as diapers, baby wipes and rash cream is still great. According to staff at the Mission, diaper donations help young parents and families who are experiencing hardship during the holiday season, and donations of warm socks for adults and children are in high demand.

"It's the season of giving, so I want to bring attention to some under-served, but still very important, needs in our community," said Jesiel. "We all know that sometimes families struggle during the Christmas season, but the need for something like diapers for the baby or a pair of warm socks for a teenager are often overlooked in lieu of a coat or food drive. For this reason, I am encouraging residents to join me in caring for those in need with a donation of diapers or warm socks this year."

New Diapers, baby wipes and rash cream.

New socks (warm weather socks preferred).

Donations can be dropped off at Jesiel's district any time during normal work hours Monday to Friday between December 1st and December 20th. Donations can also be shipped from online retailers directly to the district office, please include "Diaper Drive 2017" in the shipping message.
