Mundelein Arts Commission to Host Holiday Ice Sculpting Show

Mundelein. IL-11/28/2017-As part of Mundelein's Santa's Cottage holiday festivities, the Mundelein Arts Commission (MAC) cordially invites residents to a holiday show of ice sculpting in the Village Hall Plaza Circle on December 9.

The sculpting, sure to be a delightful winter treat, will take place on the circle near Santa's Cottage, and will coincide with the cottage hours of Noon-3 p.m. There, renowned ice sculptor Jim Bringas will hand-carve two four-foot high, 350-pound ice blocks into delightful creations for the amazement and enjoyment of adults and children alike.

Bringas, owner of Chicago Ice Works, brings 22 years of experience to his sculptures. Ice sculpting is usually taught in culinary schools and Bringas' experience as Executive Sous Chef with Hyatt Hotels gave him a strong background in the craft. He then apprenticed with Maurie Pearson, a top ice sculptor, before purchasing Chicago Ice Works. With an eye for detail and a dedication to pleasing his audience, Bringas promises a delightful event not to be forgotten.

The MAC encourages everyone to join in the fun and watch this charming event, sure to be a highlight of the holiday season. For further information, please email jlee@email.mundelein.org.
