Help families of inmates during holidays with donation

Mary's Mission and Shelter Care will hold its 2017 Annual Toy Drive in conjunction with Toys for Tots at the Lake County jail.

In addition to toys, Mary's Mission provides families with turkeys and hams, and is looking for help from organizations and individuals to support the undertaking. Donations of food are needed, as well as funds and supplies to help decorate floats that will participate in the Christmas Parade. Volunteers are also welcome to help decorate floats.

Monetary donations are requested by Friday, Dec. 8. Donations of turkeys, hams, float decorations, etc. are requested by Sunday, Dec. 10. Send all donations to: Mary's Mission and Shelter Care, 642 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., Waukegan, IL 60085. Make checks payable to Mary's Mission.

Contributions of turkeys and hams will help fill the holiday baskets for the families of Lake County jail inmates.

The Christmas Program and Toy Give-Away will take place immediately after the parade on Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Lake County Community Based Correction Center, 15 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., Waukegan. The parade lineup will begin at 9 a.m. at Mary's Mission. All are welcome.
