Sign up now for annual program of etiquette and dance in Geneva

Fortnightly Assemblies, an annual program of etiquette and dance, returns under the direction of Patricia Ray. The classes begin Monday, Jan. 15.

Young ladies and gentleman in sixth to ninth grade are invited to participate in this six-week program.

Classes will be held on Monday evenings from Jan. 15 to Feb. 19 at the Geneva Golf Club, 831 South St.

The students will learn poise and good posture, how to make introductions, telephone manners, meetings and greetings, and communication skills. They will learn social graces including table manners, appropriate dinner table conversations, table settings, how to write a thank-you note, and the importance of making a positive first impression.

Ballroom dance instruction will cover the basics of the most popular dances - fox trot, waltz, and swing.

At the conclusion of the course, students will dine at an area restaurant where they can practice their newly learned dining skills.

This class will help students build self-confidence along with learning social skills.

Tuition is $105 which includes all classes and the dinner.

Classes will meet from 6:45 to 8 p.m. Mondays. Class size is limited so it is very important to register early.

The registration deadline is Jan. 12. For more information or registration, call Patricia Ray at (630) 553-5311.

Ray has been teaching etiquette classes for children and teens for many years as well as ballroom dance classes at junior and high school level. She teaches dance on a regular basis to adults at Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove and the Fox Valley Park District's Eola Center in Aurora. Besides performing and teaching dance at various business functions and fundraisers, she is often invited to teach dance on cruise ships each year.
