NaperLights opens monthlong celebration at Naper Settlement

The NaperLights holiday display will brighten the season at Naper Settlement beginning Friday, Nov. 24, and continuing through Dec. 23.

Sponsored by Naperville Sunrise Rotary, the display features a growing collection of giant lighted holiday figures, including new illuminated ice skaters and large animated displays of elves and children building a giant snowman.

The number of displays synchronized to music has been expanded this year, along with talking Christmas trees with ambient holiday music that have been spread throughout the grounds at 523 S. Webster St. in downtown Naperville.

The Giant Holiday Tree will be even taller this year, topping out at 38 feet and becoming one of the largest holiday trees on display in DuPage County.

The celebration also will include the polar bear sculptures and sleigh on loan from Brookfield Zoo that makes an ideal backdrop for holiday photos.

NaperLights will be open from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursdays, 4:30 to 9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 4:30 to 6 p.m. Sundays. It also will be open from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Dec. 18-23.

Admission is free, but donations are welcome to support Naperville Sunrise Rotary's local and international charitable projects.

In addition to NaperLights, Naper Settlement once again will play host to Christkindlmarket, a traditional European open-air holiday market featuring ornaments, gifts and décor, food, music and traditional mulled wine.

Parking is available in three municipal lots in downtown, as well as after hours at the municipal center parking lot, 400 S. Eagle St., across the street from the settlement.

NaperLights is sponsored by Water Street District and Ryan Hill and produced, in part, thanks to a Special Events and Cultural Amenities Grant from the city.
