Jay Stream Middle School Rocks Their Annual McTeacher's Night at the Bloomingdale McDonald's

Jay Stream Middle School of Carol Stream School District 93 held its annual McTeacher's Night on Wednesday, November 15th, at the Bloomingdale McDonald's on Stratford Dr

A McTeacher's Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having teachers and staff work at McDonald's and then giving a percentage of the night's sales back to the local school.

On Tuesday, November 15th, The Bloomingdale McDonald's On Stratford Dr. was taken over by teachers excited to serve freshly prepared meals to students and their families to raise money for Jay Stream Middle School. The students and families were excited to see their teachers and principal behind the counter and throughout the restaurant.

Fourteen Teachers and staff members worked from the Middle School including Principal Julie Tobin and Assistant Principal Chris Pietroski. The McTeacher's jobs included greeting guests, cleaning the lobby, working the front counter, serving drinks, clearing tables, selling pies and even dressing up in a pie costume--all duties which were executed with great enthusiasm.

Jay Stream had several pie helpers during the event, among them were student Peyton Gerleve, Science Teacher Heather Whitney, Math Teacher Kelly Colucci and also Math Teacher Chris Necka who had a blast selling pies with sayings like " Please don't make me cry buy a pie" and giving "Pie Fives" while encouraging the families to buy Fresh Hot Apple Pies.

Another highlight of the evening is when the school received a tip in the tip jar Jay Stream staff member Staci Gerleve and Assistant Principal Pietroski encouraged all the staff members to sing the McDonald's jingle. The tips kept pouring in all night long!

A special thank you goes to Jay Stream Science teacher Staci Gerleve, who organized the event as well as everyone that worked and attended the event. Jay Stream teachers worked hard and with excitement, while the families enjoyed a spectacular evening. Jay Stream plans to put the money raised towards the 8th-grade student's boat trip at the end of the school year.
