Hoffman Estates Park District's Announces 2018 50+ Trips

The Hoffman Estates Park District announces its 2018 schedule of exciting day trips for individuals over the age of 50. Participants meet at the Triphahn Center at 1685 W. Higgins Road and board the HE Parks bus, so the hassle of driving and parking is eliminated. Trips are open to residents and non-residents and fill up quickly. Interested participants may register online at heparks.org, visit a park district facility or call 847-885-7500.

Wed., Jan. 10 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Steamboat BBQ - Steamboat BBQ in Wheaton offers authentic southern style BBQ. With a wide selection of different sauces, guests get the best tasting smoked meats in the area. There's something for everyone on the menu. Participants will order off the menu the day of the trip. Fee is $14 for residents and non-residents and includes transportation only. Register with program #215329-A.

Wed., Jan. 24 from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Wine & Dine at Lynfred Winery - This daytime tour and wine tasting includes an educational tour of Lynfred Winery's wine production area along with a guided sampling of seven Lynfred wines that last about an hour. Trip concludes at Pilot Pete's in Schaumburg where lunch is at the participant's expense. Fee is $54 for residents, $54 non-residents and includes transportation. Tues., Jan. 30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A Day Downtown - This trip kicks off with a stop at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. Participants will enjoy a 2-2.5 hour self-guided tour of the museum while enjoying all the unique pieces of artwork. Lunch will be at Gino's East. Trip fee includes transportation, admission and lunch. Fee is $52 for residents, $52 for non-residents. Register with program #215309-A by Jan. 16.

Wed., Feb. 14, 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Tony & Tina's Wedding - Join the 50+ Club at Tony n' Tina's Wedding on Valentine's Day. The audience is part of the theatrical experience as the couple's wedding guests. The show consists of a ceremony at a "church" followed by a reception with a three-course pasta lunch, dancing, and interaction with vivacious assortment of characters. Fee is $119 for residents and non-residents and includes transportation and ticket. Register with program #215310-A by Jan. 30.

Wed., Feb. 21 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat - Join the 50+ Club for the meteoric first collaboration of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" at Drury Lane in Oakbrook. Watch Israel's favorite son, Joseph, tumultuous ascent to the top in this timeless reminder of the unquenchable thirst of a man with a dream who had the courage to forge the destiny of a people and its powerful message of hope. The classic story of Joseph is paired with exuberant music, featuring favorites such as "Close Every Door," "Go, Go, Go Joseph" and "Any Dream Will Do." Lunch will be served prior to the show. Wed., Feb. 28 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hofbrauhaus Chicago - Hofbrauhaus Chicago is German favorites whipped up with Bavarian brews and music in digs with long tables and high ceilings. The 50+ Club will head to the Rosemont location for lunch and outlet shopping afterwards. Fee is $14 and includes transportation only. Attendees will order off the menu the day of the trip. Wed., March 7 from 10:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Claddagh Irish Pub - At Claddagh Irish Pub in Geneva, participants will enjoy a wide selection of foods ranging from their social appetizers to their traditional Irish entrees. Cost of the trip is for transportation. You'll order off the menu the day of the trip. Fee is $14 and includes transportation only. Attendees will order off the menu the day of the trip. Wed. . Fri., March 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Chicago Flower Show - Every great planting season begins with an outing to a garden of some kind. This year, join the 50+ Club for a trip through spring at CHICAGO IS spotlighting Chicagoland culture, cuisine, art, design, neighborhoods and community. Expect to take in the sights, scents and sounds of feature gardens with blooming perennials, annuals and trees while water features rustle throughout the Festival Halls of Navy Pier. Quite a bit of walking is involved. Lunch is on own at the show or Navy PierFee is $56 for residents and non-residents and includes transportation and entry fee. Tues., April 10 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hedda! The Musical - The 50+ Club heads to the Jacob Henry Mansion for an afternoon of food, fun and humor. Trip begins with a self-guided tour of the beautiful mansion and church followed by lunch in the banquet room. The trip concludes with a comedy show entitled "Hedda!" Fee is $88 for residents and non-residents and includes transportation and ticket. Register before March 10 with program #215333-A.
