ECC seeks candidates for board of trustees

The Elgin Community College Board of Trustees has announced a vacancy due to the resignation of Trustee Angela J. Holmes.

Under Illinois law, the board will appoint a trustee to fill the vacant seat from Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, until the next consolidated election on Tuesday, April 2, 2019.

Candidates must be a citizen of the United States, age 18 years old or older, and a resident in Community College District 509 for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment. District 509 is comprised of Elgin Area School Districts U-46, Algonquin-based Community Unit District 300, Burlington Central Unit District 301 and St. Charles Unit District 303.

Those interested in being considered for appointment to the board should send an up-to-date resume, list of references and a letter explaining why they wish to serve as a trustee electronically to boardoftrustees@elgin.edu or dkerruish@elgin.edu.

Hard copies should be mailed to: Board of Trustees, Building B, Room B235.04, Elgin Community College, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin, IL 60123.

All submissions must be received by 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30.

Candidates may be invited to ECC for interviews Wednesday, Dec. 6. The board intends to fill the position at the next regularly scheduled board meeting Tuesday, Dec. 12.
