Wego Drama to present 'We Will Rock You'

Wego Drama at West Chicago Community High School continues its season with the Illinois premiere of the musical "We Will Rock You: School Edition."

Shows begin at 7 p.m. Thursday to Saturday, Nov. 16 to 18, in the high school's Weyrauch Auditorium, 326 Joliet St., West Chicago.

Ben Elton has written the book about a dystopian world being transformed by the power of music. It is a funny and touching show that features a jukebox of Queen's greatest hits, including "Under Pressure," "I Want to Break Free," "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," "Another One Bites the Dust," and more than a dozen others.

The company of actors and crew for the show includes Abby Carr, Ryan Castiglia, Kenneth Correa, Andres Espinoza, Delaney Flynn, Megan Gee, Ricky Gieser, Sammy Incrocci and Nora Zamora from Carol Stream; Grecia Bahena, Nathan Bradley, Andrew Brady, Emily Carroso, Marcos Correa, Vanessa Coss, Zoe Genebe, Alexia Gountanis, Megan Kordik, Noemi Lara, Garrett Martin, Evy McLean, Audrey Miller, Flora Nei, Ashley O'Donnell, Rachel O'Donnell, Gavin O'Keefe, Jeri Rethford, Ryan Schweihs, Paola Suarez, Leah Wheatley, Kyle Walsh, and Noah Zieche from West Chicago; and David Brown, Lilly Hansen, Rob Hansen, Nathan Hiltner, Leo Johnson, Abbie Lundblad, Neve Ryan, Madysen Simanonis and Connor Thompson from Winfield.

The show is directed by Mark Begovich. Scenic design and technical direction is by Chris Jensen. Vocal direction is by Brandon Fantozzi. Choreography is by Lora Vodicka. Costume design is by Lauren Roark, and hair and makeup design is by Jamie Elza.

"There is an energy and excitement to this production," performer Madysen Simanonis said. "One song after another makes the entire production electric. The music of Queen really does 'rock.'"

"The idea of putting together this show with all the incredible dances and technical special effects is going to be great for our audiences," actor Ken Correa said. "It really is a kind of magic."

"I can't believe I get to sing the songs of Freddie Mercury in a show," performer Megan Kordik said. "It is so memorable."

Tickets are $5 for students, $8 for adults and are available at wegotheatre.com and at the door.
