Thanksgiving testimonies Sunday at Elgin Vineyard

In what has become a Thanksgiving tradition at Vineyard Church of Elgin, the Rev. Tom Severson will turn his sermon time over to the congregation this Sunday, Nov. 19.

Instead of hearing a message, the congregation will be invited to the microphone to share brief personal testimonies of God's goodness. With story after story of blessings for which to be thankful, it's always an encouraging and uplifting service.

"No matter what our present circumstances are, we always have much to be grateful for," Severson said. "The Lord is good to us in a multitude of ways - some that are easy to celebrate, others less obvious."

The church also will baptize believers and recognize new members this Sunday during both the 9 and 11 a.m. services. Visitors are always welcome.

The hospitality team puts out several kinds of coffee from 8:30 to 9 a.m. and 10:30 to 11 a.m., along with treats between services.

Vineyard Church of Elgin is located at 220 Division St.
