Submit your photos for arts commission competition

The Arlington Heights Arts Commission invites photographers to participate in its eighth annual Village Hall Photography Competition.

Contest theme is "Arlington Heights," and the image should be recognizable as a scene in Arlington Heights. Entries will be judged in three disciplines: technical expertise, image interest and creativity.

The winning photograph will be enlarged and framed, with costs to be paid by the arts commission, and will be displayed for approximately one year or longer in the village hall.

The competition is open to Arlington Heights residents and nonresidents. Each photographer may submit up to three entries. The winning entry will require the photographer to submit a full-size image capable of being enlarged to approximately 18-by-24 inches.

Entries may be submitted via email and each entry must be accompanied by an entry form. CDs are accepted as well, and there must be an entry form for each image on the CD. Deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2018.

All entries must be the original work of the participant and the participant must be the owner of the copyright. The photographer must also have the permission of those pictured in the image.

For details and entry forms, contact Derek Mach, dmach@vah.com or (847) 368-5232.
