St. Charles finance director appointed president of IGFOA

Christopher Minick, director of finance for the City of St. Charles, has been elected president of the executive board of the Illinois Finance Officers Association, a statewide association of government finance professionals. He was instated at the IGFOA annual conference in September. IGFOA provides leadership, education, professional development and support to government finance officers in Illinois.

Minick has been a member of IGFOA since 1995 and is affiliated with the organization's Chicago Metro Chapter. He joined the IGFOA Board in 2012, and previously served on the Professional Education and Legislative committees, and was chair of the Audit Committee.

"We congratulate Chris on this prestigious appointment," said St. Charles City Administrator Mark Koenen. "Chris brings valuable experience to his appointed position with IGFOA, having kept the City's property tax levy frozen for the last nine years and worked with the previous administration to successfully usher St. Charles through the Great Recession."

Minick came to the City of St. Charles as finance director in 2008. Prior to that, he was the village administrator for the Village of Plainfield, Illinois. Minick holds a bachelor of science degree in accounting and finance from St. Joseph College in Rensselaer, Indiana.

For 31 consecutive years, GFOA has awarded the City of St. Charles its prestigious Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the City's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. The award is the highest form of recognition in government accounting and finance. It recognizes the city for showing a spirit of full disclosure in clearly communicating the city's finances.
