Conservative analyst to speak on the Trump era
As the Center for Civic Leadership at Benedictine University continues to examine changing political and cultural identities, conservative analyst Charlie Sykes will reflect on his own values and identity, his views on the state of American conservatism, and his concerns about President Donald Trump.
Sykes' talk is timely given the recent public objections made by Senators Bob Corker and Jeff Flake, both conservative Republicans, about the Trump presidency.
Sykes will present "Identities and Belonging in the Trump Era: One Conservative's View" as part of the CCL's Speaker Series at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, in the Goodwin Hall Auditorium at Benedictine University, 5700 College Road, Lisle. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for the free public presentation.
For more than 20 years, Sykes was one of the top conservative voices on Wisconsin talk radio. He is now an MSNBC/NBC News contributor. In his new book, "How the Right Lost its Mind," he seeks to explain how the conservative movement lost its values through racism and outright lies, and questions the distrust of factual information reported by media and the conservatives who overlook the president's actions.
