Sunnydale Elementary Schools Second Annual McTeacher's Night

McFun at Sunnydale Elementary Schools McTeacher's Night at the Hanover Park McDonald's on Lake St.

On Thursday, Nov. 2, Sunnydale Elementary School in Streamwood held its second annual McTeacher's Night at the Hanover Park McDonald's on Lake Street. A McTeacher's Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having the teachers work at McDonald's and then giving a percentage of the night's sales to the local school.

On Thursday the restaurant was taken over by teachers excited to serve freshly prepared meals to students and their families to raise money for Sunnydale Elementary School. The students and families were excited to see their teachers and principal behind the counter and throughout the restaurant.

Fourteen Teachers and staff members worked from the elementary school including Principal Dr. Maria Valdovinos. The McTeacher's jobs included greeting guests, cleaning the lobby, working the front counter, serving drinks, clearing tables, selling pies and even dressing up in a pie costume--all duties which were executed with great enthusiasm.

Sunnydale teachers Jodie Bradney and Juan Jacobo had a blast dancing around the restaurant in a pie costume, While Ms. Cabral encouraged the families to make a donation to receive a delicious hot apple pie. She sold 224 pies during the Three hours event!!

To make the evening more special Ronald McDonald made a special appearance and took pictures with the children, families, and staff members. Everyone loved giving Ronald McDonald High-fives.

As an extra incentive students that attended the McTeacher's Night received a very special 20 PBIS reward points and also had the chance to enter a raffle for one of five McDonald's gift cards that were purchased by the teachers from Sunnydale!

A special thank you goes to Sunnydale teacher Michelle Vacco, who organized the event as well as everyone that worked and attended the event. Sunnydale teachers worked hard and with excitement, while the families enjoyed a spectacular evening. Sunnydale plans to put the money raised into the teacher discretionary fund to replenish needed classroom supplies.

Sunnydale Elementary School raised over $500.00 at the event thanks to all generous families who supported the event.
