Nonperishables, volunteers needed for WACO's annual Thanksgiving Food Drive

More than two dozen area schools and businesses have set up collection sites for the Woodfield Area Children's Organization's 22nd annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. WACO is collecting food and toiletries through Friday, Nov. 17, to help feed more than 200 impoverished families in the northwest and western suburbs. WACO is also looking for volunteers on Nov. 17-18.

Nonperishable items such as canned vegetables, boxed potatoes, rice, pasta, soup, spaghetti and pasta sauce, canned meats, breakfast items, canned fruit, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter and jelly, gravy, stuffing mix, dessert mix, hamburger helper, etc. are needed. WACO is also collecting items not covered by food stamps, such as toilet paper, shampoo, soap and toothpaste. Both full size and travel-size items are welcome.
