COD Hosts Block Kids Building Competition

Children from kindergarten through sixth grade recently competed by constructing structures with interlocking plastic blocks and other provided materials in the 2017 Block Kids building competition at College of DuPage. Click here to view photos.

Developed by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) and administered by the NAWIC Education Foundation (NEF), the award-winning Block Kids competition is designed to introduce children to the construction industry in an effort to create an awareness of and to promote an interest in future careers. This year's event was sponsored by Chicago Metro Chapter 325 of NAWIC, the Federation of Women Contractors, and the Architecture and Construction Management programs at College of DuPage. Winners advance to regional competitions with one team from each region entered in the national competition.

The event also included Touch-A-Truck, featuring a variety of industrial vehicles and equipment for children to experience up close.
