Nov. 10: CLC holds Veterans Day Ceremony, resource fair and breakfast
The College of Lake County's annual Veterans Day Ceremony will begin at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10 in Room A013 at the Grayslake Campus, 19351 W. Washington St. in Grayslake. The keynote speaker will be Navy Capt. Paul Roach, a combat trauma surgeon who led a medical and surgical company that supported a Marine Corps offensive in southern Afghanistan in 2014.
This is the fifth annual event co-sponsored by CLC and Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center. The ceremony honors those who have served in the U.S. military and will feature U.S. Navy and CLC speakers, a soloist from Naval Station Great Lakes and a color guard.
Prior to the event, Congressman Brad Schneider will host a veterans' breakfast, in cooperation with the Student Veterans Club of CLC, from 9:30-11 a.m. in Café Willow. To RSVP, visit www.schneider.house.gov/veteransbreakfast or call (847) 383-4870.
Veterans are also invited to attend a Veteran Resource Fair in the A Wing Lower Level from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Participants can visit with representatives from Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (service and benefit entitlements to veterans and military service members, including VA registration and enrollment); Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs; Lake County Veterans & Family Services Foundation; Veterans Employment Program/Catholic Charities; Lake County Veterans Assistance Commission; CLC Veterans Student Services; and CLC Student Veterans Club.
