Partners for Progress, NFP Thanks Community for PFP Familyfest and Participant Horse Show Success

On Sunday, October 1st, Partners for Progress, NFP celebrated their 13th Annual at their stables in Wauconda. Familyfest was the culmination of the hard work the students had put in over the course of the year, and the students celebrated their efforts with family, friends, and the community. With a variety of programs available, the opportunities offered at Partners for Progress are limitless.

Partners for Progress, NFP is an organization that works with special needs children and adults, and helps them get stronger via Equine Therapy. WIth 120 beats per minute, the horse has the most similar gait to a human, and in fact, when the students are riding the horse, the brain believes the student is walking. Equine therapy helps students become physically stronger, and as students become more confident in themselves as they become more comfortable with the horse, they experience exponential mental, emotional, and social growth. The student and horse, along with the therapists and volunteers all work together to maximize this growth. The results of their hard work were apparent at Familyfest, and their families and the local community also shared in their success.

Partners for Progress, NFP would like to thank Wauconda FBLA for assisting at Familyfest, and FBLA member Estefany Garcia volunteers at Partners for Progress on a regular basis. "It's really nice because... [the students are] appreciative...and say thank you", she noticed and observed that "the horse therapy helps… improve their balance, joint movement, and provides psychological improvement" After the event, the chapter met the horses and FBLA member Lori Krawczyk noted that meeting the horses was "a really engaging experience," and added that the "ability to [help Partners for Progress] allowed me to not only be part of something that greatly benefited others, but gave me a reward as well."

Partners for Progress, NFP also would like to thank everyone who helps them, especially volunteers, who collectively give 480 hours per week to the organization. Volunteer Cami Brown acknowledged that "it takes a village [for Partners for Progress to be successful], from the students, their families, the staff, the [Occupational Therapists], the [Physical Therapists], Speech Therapists, and the horse". Brown noted that the FBLA students were eager to participate in the celebration, which not only allowed the community at large to share in their successes and joys, but it gave students the chance to celebrate with their loved ones.

The Partners for Progress family is always accepting new members, and is open to all. If you want to join the Partners for Progress family, there is still an opportunity to volunteer. The next orientation is Monday, November 13, at 5:30 PM. The orientation is held at their stable, 23525 West Milton Road, Wauconda.
