Naperville Methodists to collect flood-relief donations Oct. 28

Grace United Methodist Church, 300 E. Gartner Road in Naperville, will host a collection of donations for hurricane relief from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28.

The United Methodist Church Midwest Mission Distribution Center near Springfield will station a collection truck and trailer at the church.

The UMC Northern Illinois Conference UM Women's annual meeting will be 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Grace UMC.

On Oct. 11, UMC Rockford District volunteers loaded a truck and delivered more than 130 full or part-full supply buckets, 160 empty buckets and lids and several boxes and bags of supplies totaling almost 2,900 pounds to the MMDC.

"We were truly the hands and feet of Christ," said John Stelter, Rockford District Mission Coordinator. "I can't possibly list all of the people who participated in this mission, from local church members, to the staging area folks, to the transportation team, to the warehouse staff in Chatham. It was an awesome mission event. Blessings to all of you!"

United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) since Aug. 25 has collected $73,240 for U.S. Disaster Response and $4,105 to International Disaster Response.
