Low-cost rabies vaccine, microchip clinics offered at McHenry County Animal Control

McHenry County Animal Control & Adoption Center will host two low-cost rabies vaccination and microchip clinics for McHenry County residents on Wednesdays, Oct. 25, and Nov. 1, at its Crystal Lake facility, 100 N. Virginia St., intersection of Woodstock Street and Route 14. Appointments are necessary and can be made by calling Animal Control at (815) 459-6222.

Clinics are scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 25 and 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 1.

All pets must be leashed or in carriers. Do not bring animals that are in heat. For everyone's safety, it is strongly suggested that children not attend this busy event. Information about bite history and if your dog is easily stressed will be asked when scheduling an appointment.

Rabies vaccinations are $15 for one year or $30 for three years. Registration tags are required by law; registration fees are separate and required at time of rabies vaccination. Discounts for senior residents apply and for pets previously spayed or neutered. Microchips will be available for $15.

There is no cure for rabies, and it is almost always fatal. Rabies vaccinations provide your pet with the best protection against this disease. For more information on rabies, registration fees, microchips and adoption specials, visit www.mcdh.info.
