Foglia YMCA, Live4Lali to host forum on opioids use

The Foglia YMCA and Live4Lali will host a community forum to help raise awareness of the increase of substance use and the relationship to the overall health of individuals, families and the community. The forum is free.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the event will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at the Foglia YMCA, 1025 N. Old McHenry Road, Lake Zurich.

Participants at the event will include people in recovery from a substance use disorder from the community, as well as representatives of NiCasa Behavioral Health Services, the Lake County State's Attorney's Office, the Lake County Opioid Initiative, Gateway Foundation, the Lake County Coroner's Office and Live4Lali.

Live4Lali works to prevent and raise awareness of substance use among individuals, families and communities, and minimize the overall health, legal and social harms associated with substance use.

Live4Lali was born out of a tragic situation fueled by lack of information.

The Opioid & Substance Use Community Forum will provide insight into the growing pandemic through education on addiction, prevention, early detection, harm reduction, intervention, treatment options and resources available.

The panel will conduct a question and answer discussion and provide literature and references to take home.
