Meet pets for adoption at Batavia shelter Oct. 21

Starfish Animal Rescue, 167 Oswalt St. in Batavia, will showcase cats, dog, puppies and kittens at an adoption-information open house from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21. The public is invited.

Cats and dogs available for adoption may be viewed at the event. Volunteers will provide information and adoption applications. Refreshments will be served.

Donations of funds and supplies will be accepted. Items needed are pet crates, intact or broken; pet beds, collars, leashes, food and water dishes, old towels, bleach (Clorox only), chew toys, gasoline gift cards, Trifectant, paper towels and dog and cat food.

Founded in 2006, Plainfield-based Starfish is a licensed nonprofit rescue that mobilizes volunteers to drive dogs, cats, puppies and kittens from rural Kentucky for adoption or fostering in Chicago-area homes.

Since its inception, Starfish has saved almost 6,000 animals.
