Sign up for the first Library Loop 5K Oct. 22

The Algonquin Area Public Library District will hold its first Library Loop 5K fundraiser at 8 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 22.

Walkers of all ages will participate in this USATF-certified course, which winds its way around the neighborhoods and park district walking paths surrounding the library.

As a special treat, Algonquin native and Harry D. Jacobs High School graduate Evan Jager, 2016 Olympic silver medalist in the 3,000-meter steeplechase event, will be in attendance to sign autographs and cheer on participants.

"We are thrilled to organize this unique community event to create an opportunity for people to celebrate and support the library in a truly active way," noted Executive Director Stephen Bero. "The participation of such a distinguished community hero like Evan Jager makes it even more exciting."

Proceeds from the race will fund programs and resources that are not covered by the library district's operating budget. Each registrant will receive a T-shirt and electronic bib. Snacks and water will be provided.

Online registration is open at www.aapld.org.

This is a great day to celebrate healthy living and the value of the library in your community. Contact Theresa Therens at (847) 458-3133 or ttherens@aapld.org with any questions about the Library Loop 5K.
