Celebrate fall during 'Harvest of the Acorn Moon' Oct. 8

Looking for a fun way to kick off the fall season?

Bring your family and friends out to Oakhurst Forest Preserve in Aurora on Sunday, Oct. 8, to celebrate the beginning of fall during the annual "Harvest of the Acorn Moon" festival. The prairie has turned golden, the forest trees are laden with fruit, and nature's bounty is harvested by wildlife and humans alike.

The Forest Preserve District of Kane County invites the community to the festival from 1 to 4 p.m. at Oakhurst Forest Preserve, 1680 Fifth Ave., Aurora.

The event will feature various nature crafts including the popular pumpkin painting, plus outdoor games, folk music, and guided hikes.

"Harvest of the Acorn Moon" is one of the forest preserve district's most popular nature programs.

All ages are welcome to attend this family festival.

"Harvest of the Acorn Moon" will have free admission but there is a nominal fee for crafts and refreshments.
