Prospect High donates bottled water to Puerto Rico, Mexico

The Prospect High School community donated nearly 380 cases of bottled water on Friday to victims in Puerto Rico and Mexico.

Knights United, a new club at Prospect that works to give students the opportunity to serve and be productive in the school and community, organized the effort to help those impacted by Hurricane Maria and the earthquake in Mexico.

In just four days, Prospect students, staff and local families donated 376 cases of bottled water. One Prospect parent donated 80 cases, said the club's co-sponsors, Maritza Rivera and Alain Ramirez.

Members of Knights United said after they learned about the natural disasters, they felt the need to help the victims. The cases of bottled water were given to La Casa Puertorriqueña in Chicago, an organization that is working with other groups to gather donations to send to victims in Puerto Rico and Mexico.

"We're a community, and we help each other out," said Diane Yunda, a freshman and member of Knights United.
